I know this is not the best time or place to repeat this, but for all the complaining these guys do about lazy awards analysis, the repeated assertion that Phil Kessel should have been a slam dunk to win the 2016 Conn Smythe really bothers me.


The only argument in favor of him winning as far as I can tell is that he led the Penguins in points? Isn't that what they rail against in things like the Hart? And it's not like he even had a gaudy number, he wasn't even in the top 3 in league playoff scoring (Sharks really lit it up in earlier rounds)! He had 3 more points than Sid (4 more than Malkin and…
